Spending her youth on a mid-western farm, Cam has always been drawn to the earthiness of farm life and nature’s elements. She developed a passion for being creative at a young age and studied art at Buena Vista College in Storm Lake, Iowa. She moved to North Carolina in her 20’s and expressed her creativity in the area of fabrics and textiles. Inspired by the diverse and scenic subject matter of the East Coast, Cam was inspired by the essence and beauty of the Carolinas and turned to oil painting as a new medium. She has studied oil painting with Butler Studio and her painting style reflects the serenity and atmosphere of her surroundings. Along with her art studies, Cam worked for the Gaston Chamber of Commerce for several years teaching networking skills along with designing “Elevator Speeches,” to help members market their business. She believes, we too, need to know how to express ourselves as artisans and tell our stories. Teaching the “Foundation Oil Painting class” at Butler Studio, Cam has the opportunity to share her passion for this medium. She believes painting is a Zen experience, allowing us space to slow down, to pause and reflect on the beauty around us.
